My name is Ivan Potter-Smith, and I love creative problem solving.

I'm the kind of person who naturally leans into challenges, asking questions and listening intently when someone shares a problem I can help solve. This approach might not be typical in every conversation, but it's what fuels my success, especially in the realm of UX design. Sometimes the answer is right in front of us, sometimes it comes out of left field, but it is always unexpected.

While UX Design is my primary focus, I have had the opportunity to wear many creative hats over my (surprisingly varied) career. Since 2015 I’ve claimed the titles of Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Teacher, Brand Designer, Website Designer, Advertiser, Photo Retoucher, Set Painter, 3D Modeler, and Layout Designer just to name a few.

In each of these roles, my inclination to engage deeply through questions and active listening has been key. It's helped me gain varied perspectives in the tech and creative industries, which in turn informs my design process, making it more empathetic and user-centric.
